V. Krishna Kumari's Journey in Bharathanatyam

Miss V. Krishna Kumari began her journey in dance at the age of five under the guidance of Sivadas-Vatsala in Kuala Lumpur and studied Carnatic music under the esteemed Bramha Sri Krishna Bagawathar. She advanced her training at the prestigious Kalakshetra Dance Academy in Chennai, dedicating seven years to rigorous study and the gurukulam tradition, completing a five-year Diploma followed by a two-year postgraduate course. Krishna Kumari performed her Arangetram in Kuala Lumpur in 1977

As the Principal and Guru of Krishna Bharata Kala Alayam, a school founded by her mother, Mrs. V. Pushpavathy her sole inspiration, unwavering support, and driving force-Krishna Kumari has cultivated a legacy of excellence. Under her mentorship, the school became a renowned center for students committed to mastering Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music through a structured gurukulam system. Over the years, she has successfully conducted 29 Salangai Poojas and 40 Arangetrams, further cementing her reputation as an exemplary teacher. In recognition of her contributions to the arts, Krishna Kumari has been honoured with prestigious titles: Natya Kalarani (1977) Natya Vithva Ratna (1991) · Aadal Kalai Arasi (1998) Her dedication and achievements continue to inspire and shape the next generation of classical artists.
